Meet Your Contributor: Erika Mitchell
License Esthetician Instructor and License Esthetician, Erika has worked in the beauty industry for 16 years. She begin her career working for different cosmetics lines such as Lancôme, Origins, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Prescriptive, Christen Dior, Channel, Fashion Fair, and MAC, while attending Alabama State University on an athletic scholarship. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Computer Information Systems and is currently working towards a Master in Business Administration with a concentration in project management. Erika is a graduate of AVEDA Institute of Atlanta where she studied Esthetics. After graduation, she moved to Miami, Florida and worked in a full time Esthetician/Trainer position with an exclusive upscale AVEDA spa and salon.
In 2007 she received a full scholarship from Esani Paul Mitchell partner school: Esthetics’ Instructor and began her post graduate training with International Dermal Institute. Erika started her own freelance company (YURVE, LLC) in the fall of 2006 that provides on- location makeup for weddings, pageants, fashion shows, and other special occasions. Her open, warm-hearted personal style and creativity earned the respect of her clients such as celebrities: Jerry Springer, (Talk Show Host), Randy Owens, (Singer), Josh Kelley (Singer and Song Writer), John Sally (Talk Show Host), Roy Jones Jr. (Boxer), Bill Bellamy (Comedian), Tommy Ford (Comedian), Jeff Henderson (Chef), Kim Lavine (Author of Mommy Millionaire), Michael Eric Dyson (Author), Heather Graham (Author of The Dead Room), Mariah Huq and a host of News Anchors: Brenda Woods, Paul Ossman, Fred Kalil, Bill Liss, Wes Sarginson, Karen Greer, Flip Spiceland, Chris Holcomb, Randy Water and Walt Maciborski while working abroad as the Director of Makeup for numerous international and national pageant systems such as 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2006 Miss Africa USA, 2011 and 2010 Miss Latina US, 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2007 Miss Latin America Del Mundo, 2013, 2012, and 2011 Miss Georgia Latina & Miss Teen Georgia Latina and 2012 Miss Alabama Latina pageant. Erika Mitchell dedication to her craftsmanship and dependability has made her no stranger to television and film work in which includes: TV ONE “ Who’s Got Jokes (2007),” FOX 5/ WAGA (2007), Good Day Atlanta , 11 Alive /WXIA “Atlanta & Company (2007)” 11 Alive Evening News (2007), HBO “Deff Jam Comedian (2007),” Dream Kweens Film “Miss Africa USA (2006 to present), “ and ESPN “Fitness Universe (2006)” Bravo’s newest reality show; “Married to Medicine” season 1, star Mariah Huq as one of her makeup artist.
In 2009, Erika decided to give back what she learned and her experience working in the industry to teach Esthetics for AVEDA Institute and to develop AVEDA first makeup curriculum for esthetics and cosmetology students. She also went back to teach at the Esani Paul Mitchell school and on several occasion is requested as a guest speaker at different events.
Her talents have been displayed on TV and magazines and she prides herself on keeping up with industry standards and then surpassing them. She is very well respected in the Beauty Industry and continuously sought after for her flawless air-brushing techniques.
